She was applying for a special art program that required her to do a lot of extra work. She told me she would be very busy for the next few months, building her portfolio. I thought I understood it at the time, but she slowly began to fade away.
Initially, it was barely noticeable. But as days passed by, I realized that she was no longer there. Finding time to see each other became a hassle. It was torture, and I could tell I was becoming a nuisance to her. I tried to my best to give her the space she needed because this was important to her, but I still missed her. A lot.

During the course of the winter, we stayed indoors. The heavy weather condition made it difficult to travel. I didn’t have roommates, so she was over nearly every day. Winter is a cruel season. Not only was it cold and depressing, but it also marked the start of first semester exams. As per my philosophy on studying, I knew I would do fine, but she made me study anyway. She threatened to stab me with a knife if I didn’t.

Freshman year, my economics professor gave me the hardest time. Ever since the first day of class, I was referred to as “Mr. Blue”. Though I wasn’t the only one he picked on. One day, a girl sat down next to me who looked sick to her stomach. She was so pale and miserable. Halfway through the lecture, she ran out the door and the sound of her breakfast being regurgitated could be overheard. When she snuck quietly back into the room, the professor instructed the whole class to clap for her. The poor girl ended up dropping the class.

I love roller coasters. The annual fair came to town that month. Growing up, I would go with my friends every year. This year, most of my friends were studying abroad. I was the only one close enough to home, so I dragged her along.
